have a 2000 c5 just now getting into car seen trying to figure out best build setup for the buck have a tsp 228/232 cam from tsp just bought and was going to put 243 head on it port and polished also just installed vararam intake on it and shop dyno tune ..... cam and heads not installed what else should I do ?
And.............unless the heads are newly ported and freshened up by the shop, I'd install new springs, valve seals and retainers, and consider new, stronger push rods.
Since the front end is apart, consider replacing the harmonic dampener (balancer), and dependent upon mileage consider new water and oil pumps. Check belts and pulleys/idlers as well as hoses.
Use ARP bolts to install the heads and HB if you change it instead of one time torque-to-yield bolts.
Of course, new gaskets when buttoning up the front end.
LS6 or better intake.
As cuisinartvette said, consider a converter if an A4. What gears are you currently running?
It's a lot of fun to play with the engine, but be sure you have your rebuild plan in place.
Enjoy!

If you remove the heads,,, there are some fasts to be aware of:
1- The head bolt boles in the block are BLIND HOLES. Make sure that there is no water or dirt in the holes prior to reinstalling the head bolts. Failure to do so will result in a cracked block.
2- Replace the LIFTER BUCKETS with new ones.
3- Recommend that you up-grade the rocker trunions to the new bushed trunions.
4- I up-graded to the ARP Head Studs. Best thing that could have done.
