I have a super charged ,stinger cam and other mods ..was wondering if any of y’all use the royal purple xpr ..I know there are lots of opinions on oil was just curious what people thought of this oil ..it was recommended to use so here I go
My 02 is also supercharged and I always use the factory-fill Mobil-1 in 5W-30. Never had a problem and Mobil-1 is easy to get. Costco, Wal-Mart, Amazon has occasional sales of 5-qt jugs or 6-pack boxes. Just get a good quality oil filter!!
I've gone to Mobile 1 10/30 for the hot summer temp's in Southern Arizona. And 5/30 for the rest of the year. I've used AC Delco oil filters for more years than I can remember. Never had any issues and I've been using synthetic oil since the late eighty's in all my vechiels. A cheap investment for your pride and joy.
The rod bearing loading will be higher on a supercharged, nitrous or even a higher compression n/a engine vs. a factory stock LS1/6 engine. So you should step up to a oil with a greater shear rate viscosity number (higher film strength value). That is why I would suggest a top quality synthetic 0w-40 or 5w-40 weight oil from either; Mobil 1, Redline or Amsoil. Its cheap insurance for that expensive supercharger kit you had installed on engine.
a few years ago, i got the suggestion of Rotella T6 5w40 (synthetic diesel oil) and it's been running great this whole time. typically use Wix 51042 filters.
