Don't want to be alarmist. Fine metal is pretty normal. Sometimes when I change oil I let the dirty oil sit in the pan a few weeks, then pour it off and see what settled--which typically is really fine gray stuff, like soft babbitt material from bearings, which used to contain lead . But, shavings are not normal wear--they are excessive wear somewhere, and the shavings can cause excessive wear in lots of other places. Excellent candidate for Blackstone. Mines always come back from Blackstone less wear than normal, and that peace of mind alone is worth the cost. If there is a problem, diagnosing it early could save thousands.

Are you hearing piston slap? It stops after oil is up to running temp?
