Default Storage question/theft mode

This is my first year with my C5. Looking for the best way to store the car without triggering theft mode/column lock bi-pass, from battery going dead. I do have the LMC5 just haven’t put it on yet. Can I just leave a battery tender on it or is it better to pull the battery all together?

It's probably 60/40 tender/removal from my memory. I put mine on a tender for winter. Only remove it (edit, it being the tender) if I go out of town.

For the sake of the battery's health, I would keep it on a battery tender.

Weak batteries induce odd electrical behavior, not really so much sitting around (although that isn't good in general). Take the 15 minutes to put the LMC5 in, put a battery tender on it, and it'll be good.

That’s the answer I got from a GM mechanic of 20 years. Thanks for confirming. Much appreciated!

Potential yes, some do remove it and put it in a warmer place. My reply was written odd, I disconnect the tender if I go out of town. My battery stays put all year round.

Disconnecting the battery is the GM Recommended LONG TERM storage recommendation. Disconnecting the battery WIL NOT damage the car. YES, you will loose memory.. BIG DEAL..

Takes 30 seconds to set all the memory stuff to your desires and press and hold the MEM-1 button..

Drivability issues. LOL! You may have a little idle surge fore the first few minutes of engine run but it will relearn all the stuff it needs to be 100% easily in a few miles of NORMAL DRIVING!!

LMC-5 Install it NOW! Murphy's law says that you will get hit sooner than later!

Unless you purchase a SMART charger, that monitors and maintains the battery in a trickle charge state only when it needs charging you could damage the battery. I use the CTEK MUS 4.3 and it is one of the BEST maintainers on the market.
