Default Stainless Works Headers Question

Following up on the recent GP held here! I'm considering getting them....
do any of the "new owners" have any comments positive or negative? Is jet hot coating sufficient for a street car or is ceramic coating necessary? How much should I expect to pay to have a set installed? Thanks for any info. :seeya

I have them and love the sound and new found power. The headers are stainless steel and thus don't require coating to prevent corosion. However, the ceramic coating by Swaintech does help reduce temperature transfer outside of the header. It isn't necessary, but it is nice to have. As far as install, It takes about 4 hours to do, so whatever shop charges are, figure 4 hours worth. I would expect somewhere b/t 15-20 rwhp/rwtq. Overall, I am very happy.

I like mine. Jet hot is OK but Swaintech is better IMHO.

I have a serious negative which is actually a positive. After driving the car I had a misfire (I cracked a plug when I was doing the install). Well normal manifolds or Jet Hot Coated Headers radiate heat...I carefully reached down to start checking my plug wires because I thought maybe I didn't have a plug wire on all the way...well because I did not feel any radiating heat...I got a false sense of security working around the headers...and ended up touching one of them with my finger and burning it so bad that I did not even feel the burn..it just charred the top layer of skin and ended up blistering 5 hours later...so if you are wondering if the Swaintech coating works...let me tell you, I have first hand experience...no pun intended.

As for performance....prior to the blower...I installed the headers...my car has 335" rear tires...in stock form (prior to header install) I could shift between 1 and 2 gear and the tires would spin a little and then catch...after the header install...I would make the same 1-2 shift and I would have to back off of WOT to get traction. So obviously picked up some torque...throttle response seemed crisper too...
So these are my experiences with just adding headers and an off road X Pipe.

These headers are an excellent choice.. Their fitment and quality is perfect as they are made by one of the best stainless steel fabricators around. Usually Stainless Steel headers are quite a bit more money as well. I am going to be putting a set of these on my car in the next couple months.

Stainless Works also has a stainless 3" offroad x-mid pipe and 3" in and out muffler system available as well.

If anyone wants more information on these, or is interested in ordering a set, be sure to get in touch with me.

To answer your question, jet hot coating is not needed, but it will help with under hood temps. not a big deal if you decide not to have them coated, you wont have any problems either way.
installation takes an average of 4-6 hours. our labor rate is 75.00 per hour.
installation is straight forward and fit and finish is excellent. we have not installed any of these yet, but have sold several sets. all customers have been very happy and reported a "seat of the pants" gain. :)
