I recently bought a 2003 high mileage c5 so I wouldn't worry about driving it. Got a deal, now I know why. Although I have corrected some of the issues, the one that bugs is the F55 system. Somebody got sticker shock and just put basically regular shocks under it. While disturbing enough they just cut electrical connections. Trying to find out what I need and is it worth it. Fyi- still handles ok and fun to drive

Do you have all the handling warning messages and the LIMIT of 88 MPH?
You MUST delete the F-55 RPO code in side the BCM to properly get rid of the messages and speed limitations. If you don't have them its most likely programmed out of the BCM. Do you have any DTCs for the handling system in the DIC??
If the system was properly deleted using the GM Tech2, YEP, some one did you a favor.
I recommend purchasing some C6 ZO6 shocks and installing them. They are a 100% bolt in and work excellent for a good performance ride and handling. If you have the F-55 Option, you also have the BASE FE-1 suspension. Springs & sway bars. You can also find some good used ZO6 or Z-51 springs and sway bars for an even better drive.

The easy way to tell if the RPO has been removed from the BCM, is in the left rear cubby by the tail light is where the F45/F55 module is located.. If all the connectors are unplugged then someone used a Tech2 remove the RPO
You need the Tech2 (real or knockoff) to turn the F55 option off. Where are you located? You may have a forum member near you willing to help.
Also, my car's speed limit was 159 mph with the F55 shocks removed before I turned the option off ... but at 80mph (not 88mph) it would kill power a fair bit. In 6th it felt like hitting a wall, though in 4th it was hardly noticeably. I got sick of it and got a knockoff tech2 after a couple weeks.

Dont exactly recall, car is presently in storage(stupid winter), but says one states shocks or maybe suspension are inoperable. 80mph limit which is just a message; no governing present.
Car has some other bugs also. Had alot of history codes I reset but 3 stayed current. PO420, CO710 and U1040
Found that one computer(forget the name) but on RH side behind fender has a 60 pin connector that is cracked

1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.
9. Never plug the connectors back in.
