So, i have bilstein shocks that replaced the original f45 shocks that came on my vehicle. The previous owner had them installed and it looks like there are simulators attached.
Anyways i wanted to replace the traction control/ride control panel on the center console to the one with only the traction control button (came on non-ride control equiped cars) since the switch for the ride control is useless. I was planning to put another switch in its place for a line lock. However after replacing the panel, i noticed my dic says "service ride control". When i plug in the original panel, it goes away so it has something to do with the plug and ride control switch. Is there a way to trick the computer to thinking i have the switch pluged in while using the panel that doesn't have the switch?
The reason it says that is because of the Ride Control System still being active in the cars Computer. Since they used sims the system is still active. So disconnecting the switch causes the error. You would have to find someone with a TECH 2 to take out the F45 system. Easy to do and doesn't take long. After that, you can pull that switch and will have no more errors.
Yep, gotta remove the option code with a Tech2 and disconnect the computer in the rear driver cubby. There's a procedure listed somewhere, just google C5 F45 removal with Tech2.

1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.

Perfect, thanks for the procedure. Seems like there are some important steps i'll have to let the person i find to do it know.
