Acupuncture is something to consider for dog too. It can help rebalance and increase appetite. Look for holistic veternary care.

If our dog needs to take pills, we just open his mouth and put pill at back of throat. Then close his mouth by hand under chin and keep head up and gently rub throat until he swallows. Will work everytime. Assumes you dont have a biter lol. Works on cats too.

I tried once and he clenches his teeth, always been a funny dog, doesn't let anyone touch his mouth/teeth, paws, or tail.

Also he is funny and will only let me pet him, others he moves away, my mom and GF, unless they had food. Lol

I'll check out acupuncture for him.

His lack of appetite got worse so took him to a new vet, they admitted they were not equipped to properly treat him and referred us to a emergency vet, and wanted him to see a cardiologist there.

He didn't see the cardiologist and we got estimate for about $3350.00 for treatment options, told them I can't afford that, told them 500 max when they asked what budget was, they came back with options just under 500.

A new pill called Vetmedin was 77 bucks there, but called Costco and it was 25.60, so I told then I'll get that at Costco, they talked me into draining areas in his abdomen and area of chest around his heart, from fluid build up.

They said we could go fill the RX while they do the work, and bring him home in a few hours.

While at Costco I got a call that I need to get back there ASAP and when I said "should I just forget the prescription now?" the lady said yes.

Apparently they poked a hole in his lung and he started coughing up lots and lots of blood, and they pussyfooted around mumbling this and that, when I saw him in a cage I knew he was screwed.

He was gasping for air and blood pouring out of his mouth, huge amounts, I said so he needs to be put to sleep, she said yes.

He had this weird sound when he breathed when I opened the plexiglass door to his sealed off cage with oxygen lines flowing, like nothing I've ever heard, so we put him to sleep.

My GF and I were right by his side and she rubbed his ears and I kept telling him it will be ok, (I had my face near his face) probably stayed by him for 20-30 minutes, didn't want to leave but knew I had to.

Didn't really sleep good and had nightmares about it.

The vet pretty much made it sound like she poked his lung, but danced around saying "we don't know what happened, maybe a lung was punctured, or this was something already going on, asked me if he had been coughing? Other possibilities", etc.

He had not been coughing.

She showed me his kidney labs were not that good, probably the Lasix messed them up, and that most likely that was the reason for his loss of appetite.

If I didn't seek treatment he would have starved to death, he was not eating but maybe one or 2 bites a food a day, on days he would eat.

I know this isn't the place to talk about this stuff, I'm sorry.

All of you with dogs, you should make sure to spend time with them, give them love and attention, do something fun for them, dogpark or something they enjoy.

Default Been there

Went through the same thing with my 8 year old black lab a few years ago. She had internal bleeding alll over her lungs and heart. Wouldn’t eat for 3 days. Had to put her down. Miss her every day but I know she’s no longer suffering. They said she probably had a cancerous tutor that ruptured. My condolences. Regarding your car issue. I had the same issue with my clutch pedal. Changed the clutch master cylinder and problem went away. Good luck and hang in there regarding your dog.

Thank you. It really sucks, but he isn't suffering anymore, he lived about 13 and 1/3 years.

So far the clutch is working great, need to check the fluid again to see if it's still at the step.

Replacing the master sounds easier than the slave and all the other stuff while it's apart.

I noticed at AutoZone the other day they had hydraulic clutch fluid next to brake fluid, both DOT 3, I guess it's just a way at more profit as it cost twice as much.

Sorry brother. Its the hardest thing to do but it is part of the deal to do what they cannot do for themselves. When they stop eating or can't go pee on their own....it's time to start saying good bye and make that hard decision for them. All things being considered, age and issues. I have been there a couple of times and it is horrible. I always stay with my pal to the end. We owe it to them. God bless him, he will greet you on the other side.

Thank you Seamus2154, it has been odd getting used to not having him around the house.

My mom moved in with me in 2011 because her bad health, can't drive anymore, etc, and she took over feeding Wooley, and spoiled him rotten.

She would make him sandwiches, cook hamburgers for him, pretty much gave him everything she ate, I had to put my foot down on him having spaghetti, oh man that gave him the runs. Lol

Before she came out here to live, he would get a bite here and there, I told her to knock off giving him so much human food, but she continued to, oh well he enjoyed it and she enjoyed giving him foods.

I asked the vet if him getting all that food messed up his heart, she said no, his congestive heart failure would have happened anyways even if he only ate just dog food, so I'm glad he got to enjoy eating plenty of treats in his life.

She is taking it harder than me, so I just don't talk about him anymore to her, she gets upset still.

About the Corvette, the pedal got weird again on Saturday, I limped it home and found empty resivoir again, it's a slow leak.

So, I'll have to tear into the clutch and replace everything, however summer is about to hit, and Phoenix is too damn hot to be doing major work, so I will wait for fall.

I'm getting another car to drive, in case the C5 totally breaks down (leak gets worse where I can't top off fluid) and also to commute to new job.

A free PT Cruiser, was my GF's car, water pump went out last year, she got a brand new car.

So I'm replacing water pump and timing belt, and timing belt tensioner and idler, needs a new battery, and new tires, but it's free. Lol

Good luck with the PT timing belt. If you think the C5 slave is a bear you're in for a real trial. It took me 27 hours to replace the timing belt and water pump on my PT Cruiser. There is about 3/4" of room to work on the timing side of the engine.Do yourself a favor and undo ALL the motor mounts and pickup and tilt the motor over to the left giving you a whopping 2" of room to work. It seems like a lot after 3/4".

I didn't want to do a timing belt on the PT but after 5 years and 125K miles it needed it. They were only giving $500.00 trade on a 5 year old Cruiser with over 100K miles so I kept it when I bought the C5. When I called the dealer for an estimate on the timing belt they had never done one. After they looked it up they came back with an estimate of $1500.00 and then said they would rather not do it. They said it looked REALLY HARD TO DO. Where do they get these mechanics???

Anyway, once you do the timing belt on the Cruiser the C5 slave will be a walk in the park.

We're you the one who called it PT Bruiser?

About a year ago, or little longer I was dreading doing this job on her PT Cruiser, and made a thread here "what would you rather do, PT Cruiser water pump/timing belt, or a C5 clutch job"

Somebody said they had done both.

I've been watching lots of YouTube videos, some people take more parts off than others to gain access.

The only thing I really like about PT Cruiser, they seem to have one of the best A/C on any vehicles I have driven, maybe it's just because you can close off the passenger vents and get all that cold air blowing at you. Lol

Yeah it was me. The skin grows back on your knuckles after a few months and you start to forget. I miss my Cruiser. I did finally sell it. My wife got a new car and I got her old Acura TL. That's how I learned how to repair automatic transmissions.

I call them PT LOSERS

If it were me, I would go back and make sure that remote bleeder is properly tight and not leaking. Pull the bottom inspection cover on the bell housing and see if you see any fluid leaking around the slave.

I will as soon as I get the PT going, then I won't feel rushed.

I did see a few drops of brake fluid on floor of garage, right where the bell housing would be.
