Have used both, one at a time, Both of these chemical solutions will dissolve some of the sulfur oxidation on the sending units. Since you have 2 of them, one in each tank it is best to add when tanks are about half full and them full up the tanks to the top. A continuing problem with the C5.
I can relate in a way. My 2004 C5 convertible suddenly started dropping to empty after fill-ups. Ran a bottle of Techron through a partial tank and it started working after it reached just below half tank after a fill-up. Ran down to below 1/8 tank and put in another 20 ounces of Techron then filled up. Same result. However, I notice whenever I hit a bump the gauge works for about 15-20 seconds then crashes to empty again. I also started running nothing but Shell 93 V-power. I resorted to resetting my trip odometer with each fill-up and watching the miles. Since it still starts working below 1/2 tank, I guess I will just live with it. I called a local Chevy service center and was quoted “around $2,000” to replace it. Hoping it resolves with time, but will trust my trip odometer if not. 👍

You may have a different problem if gauge works after hitting a bump. May be a loose or bad ground.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought about that too, but once it falls to just under 1/2 tank the gauge works normally regardless of hitting bumps or not. I also recently lost all power to my driver door. Fuses and DCMs are good. Passenger side works fine. Going to check the connection inside the door to body boot this weekend. I’m guessing that’s where that problem lies. Small quirks to owning a Vette, but well worth it!

That's kind of the opposite of the usual typical gauge failure. Gauge would work fine with a full tank, but when it reached a certain level, about half full, it would go to empty.
It makes sense with the C5; the car has two gas tanks, each one has a sending unit. When the passenger (RH) tank is empty, the gauge reads 1/2 of a tank. The driver (LH) sending unit must be working ok.
Mine has been doing that off and on for a couple of years. I’ve tried different approaches with Techron and it doesn’t seem to do anything for me but I have read too many posts saying it works to Not keep trying. It hasn’t failed completely so I will just live with it.....
it took two years of driving and dozens of bottles of Techron to clear up for me. But it did.
