I just went ahead and purchased a a&a kit. I am wondering whether I should leave it to the pros to install and make the 3 hour drive from Northern California or just install the items on my own and just order a swapped pcm. How hard are these things to install. I’m not totally mechanical challenged. But if this requires jack stands and or cutting/ shaving then I don’t have the tools to even start. Can it be done with a socket set? What would it more beneficial to have them dyno tune for carb legal requirements maybe pushing out some extra ponies? What type of gains should I expect or run safely on a stock ls1engine? I just bought this thing for the good sake of having it on there maybe 3-5-7 lbs of boost I don’t know how many custom tunes trinity t2 will hold yet still doing some last minute home before these parts arrive. Or I just calll them and say I will be down. Either way this builds gotta happen and any input would be of great help seriously.
You're going to need at least an impact gun to get the crank pulley bolt out to pin the crank.
You're also going to want to get a dyno tune done, hand helds are **** for boosted applications.
The tune is the key to your cars longevity, plus the condition of your current engines health.
Some stock LS1's have blown up on 5lbs some have gone double digits...
Wondering if there’s a place out here near In Sacramento ? I found one in San Jose which would the be the least amount of distance. Would prefer I local shop if anyone on here knows of anyone ?
I just picked up a pcm swap for now through some nice people. Maybe then I can have it on a dyno but I would think think their tune should be sufficient for California use and running without a dyno tune maybe ?
You really want to have somebody who knows what they are doing to tune it, if not you risk running to lean and causing detonation and possibly destroying your engine.
I hate to bug a&a Im kinda wondering when these parts will arrive? Stoked I heard great things about these systems. Is it a whole lot more work to have a cam installed at this time? I liked to go with the ls9 cam or equivalent if I can have one made.

I plan on adding a 215/247 cam @.50 with a fast 102 intake keeping that stock bottom end, heads, and fuel rail. Does any one know if the cam by Lingenfelter will pass smog. Trying to keep this build carb legal. I’m just about ready to purchase the last pieces of the puzzzle. Already got a SFI a&a balancer with a ARP bolt on its way. Figures it’s best to have all the work done at once with one tune job. I just wondering if anyone has run this cam and pass smog l. It’s slightly bigger than that of the stock ls9 cam.

skip the 102 in my opinion, they are structurally weaker than the stock intake and are known to crack under boost plus you can make plenty of power through the stock intake and throttle body... not sure what year your car is but all 01+ cars had the ls6 intake... maybe pick up an ls6 intake if you don't already have one but either way it's not a huge deal, you will still make power through an ls1 intake

Indeed. Boost overcomes many restrictions. Unless you are at 1000 and looking for more....

Here is exactly what is involved with the installation. All depends on your ability, tools, desire and piggy bank.
Can’t get the crank bolt loose any tips? I’m already using a 1/2 inch socket with a bar off my jack to pull on it.. Maybe I’m pulling the wrong way ? I’m pulling from the passenger side top towards my chest . Counter clock wise

is the engine rotating?... if it's a 6 speed and the rear wheels are still on the ground you can put it in gear, pull the parking brake up, chock the rear wheels and that should hold it... if it's an auto I'm not sure if that procedure will work
Got it just now push this time drone the driver top side. I did put the car in 6th also. Instead of removing the steering rack. Disconnected all the main power steering lines to the steering gear box and steering connection bolt. Move the rack out towards the passenger side and laid it back towards where your power steering cooler would be looks as I have plenty of room to work up top now. Made several attempts to try and get it out the driver. I even dropped the cradle. Time to put the summit puller to the test.
