Default Bosch Starter

I have a 2004 CE Vert and I changed the starter due to cranking slowly when cold, battery fully charged, all connections clean and tight. Now no problem with with cold cranking but a new Bosch does not disengage correctly, either Bendix or solenoid hangs has anyone had a similar problem with the Bosch starter?

Are you positive it is the bendix/solenoid? I have not had that experience with a Bosch starter, I have a Powermaster XS high torque starter installed. Nonetheless, when installing the Powermaster, it came with several different size shims to adjust the starter gear position vertically as it mounted to the block and/or further away from the center point of the flywheel. In the setup directions, there was bold lettering explaining that if the teeth engagement of the starter gear wasn't correct with the flywheel teeth, the engagement/disengagement will not work properly. I had to use a set of feeler gauges to get the engagement within spec and my starter works flawlessly. If you don't have any luck with the bendix/solenoid, that's where I would look next.

Thanks, no shims or instruction came with the starter, from what I can tell its suppose to be a drop in so I'm going the return route. Going to rebuild my old starter with new brush block and solenoid, should have done that in the first place.

Pulled Bosch starter, rebuilt my old one, new Bendix, solenoid and brushes, from Performance, Inc, 2031 Harrison Ave SW, Canton, OH 44706, Michael; Laurer, very helpful great service, Problem solved starter goes back to Rockauto.
By the way if you armature is good, the rebuild cost is less than $50, so its a great alternative, you are replacing all wear items
