Default '03 Headlight doors

I know it's been asked thousands of times. I just bought a '03 Anniversary last night. The driers side headlight when turned on or off will open and close and stop in random places. Is this the two bumpers on the linkage or the headlight gear? Thanks for some insight.

You can get in there and flip the bumper stops around for starters (I had the same issue and my bumper stops had deep gouges on one side). I also took the extra effort to replace the plastic gears with the brass gears. My AE headlights have been error free ever since.

How hard was it to change to brass gears
I just put in new headlight bulbs. And its tight and fiddly in there.

its not all that bad. There are three bolts to get the motor out. I’d recommend a short ratchet wrench and a stubby for the other side. I have fairly big hands and was able to get in there. As I recall the lower bolt closest to the engine is the hardest to get off.

Check this Post for links to get replacements and more details regarding a TSB for the driver's side.
