Noob question: 80 mph max speed?
Hi all,
Still looking for my 1st vette & found one with the picture shown in the ad.
Does this mean there's some kind of governor on the car, or that it's only ever been taken to 80 mph?
I can't imagine buying a C5 that will only go 80 mph. LOL
Maximum Speed 80MPH
TIA for any info.

There’s a speed governor in every Corvette ever made... it’s on the end of your right leg..

It means the electronic shocks that the car thinks are present are not working or no longer present, so the car is basically in a sort of "limp mode."

I’ve seen a car that didn’t have adjustable ride control as an option have that error.
The dealer with a tech2 couldn’t fix it. Not sure what happened in the end.

It's a 2003 at a very attractive price.
I'm starting to guess there might be a less-than-sttractive reason for that.

that picture is from a 2003 Corvette, which had the magnetic ride shocks as an option. That could play a part into the issue

Either the magnetic shocks are broken or the magnetic shock/computer was removed without programming out the option. I would not call that a deal breaker.

Agreed. Those shocks suck anyways. You can fix the system and make the error go away pretty easily, just need the original computer and a tech2 (real or knockoff). You can borrow those if need be.

BROTHER,,,,,,,,,,,, The answer is at your finger tips.
Just use the fuel and options buttons and READ THE DTCS that are stored in the DIC. That WILL tell you what the car is complaining about!!
Most scanners WILL NOT read the body or chassis DTCs. USE THE CARS BUILT IN CODE READER!
Post up the stored DTCs and we will be able to lead you in the correct repair direction!
