This morning, My driver side headlight on my 04 made some squealing noises when I went to lower (turn the lights off) this morning. I "tested" a couple of time and the headlight goes up with no problem but make a squealing noise when I try to lower it. My guess is that the gears are going? The funny thing is that if I apply a little pressure on the side of the motor, the noise stops and the light drops normal.
So, is the motor dying on me or do I have an alignment issue (binding?) as the pressure on the side makes the motor function properly?

I would describe the sound of a failing gear as a loud "rat-tat-tat", as the worm gear skips the damaged teeth of the plastic gear, and not as a squealing noise.
Have you checked if there is any kind of visible binding in the linkage? Compare the mechanism to the other side for any different behavior when closing.
