C5 ZO6 shifter adjustment
I replaced my factory clutch with a McLeod RST 2 months ago. 4 days ago 1st gear would just pop out of position pushing the shiftier back into neutral (with some noise). I had to hold it in place and then release the clutch to get it to stay in gear. Then 3rd gear would not go into gear at all... the worrying started, I had broken something in the trans.
I did a little research here and with the advice of Bill Curlee, I did the shifter\box alignment procedure. I knew it was a shot in the dark... but an easy test. After the console was out, I noticed the shifter box bolts were very easy to remove, too loose. I performed the alignment steps.... and tightened everything back to spec.
All said and done, my issues are gone and shifting the way I remember before the clutch install. I was really worried about the trans rebuild and had already began researching a shop.
FYI: The McLeod RST with aluminum flywheel is awesome... feels like driving a 4 wheel motorcycle.
...hope this helps someone
