Default Tech 2

Hello all,

I have researched and checked for Tech 2 threads - none have provided the info I need.

I'm looking to pick up a Tech 2, and every time someone has bought one, the best I have seen is a link to something that is no longer working or no link at all. I have also seen that some shady sellers have numerous sister companies.

My question is - Has anyone RECENTLY bought one, been happy and if so, can you provide an actual link to where it was purchased, name of seller etc. I'm not interested in the Tech 2 emulator that runs on a laptop.

Thank you in advance.

You looking to pick up a “genuine” Tech 2 or a “clone” ??...if you want a genuine used for $1000- $1300 or more you’d be better served picking up something like an Autel or a Launch !!...only downside of Tech 2 is no Mode 6 which comes in handy in diagnosing..my thumbs hurt using the Tech 2...Autel is touchscreen !!

You're missin out...the wifi setup is the stuff. Laptop in the engine bay running throttle body tests...pshhhh...too easy. Goin down the road with full live data screens and misfire counts of all cylinders readily visible...again...too easy. Any particular reason you're against running the laptop configuration?

Hi C5 - I know anything new is a clone at this point, and I have seen some people having great luck with them. Just trying to find a recent verified buyer who can verify where it was purchased.

Thank you.

What do you mean “verified WHERE it is purchased”....as in you’re looking to buy a genuine used Tech 2 and you want to be sure it’s NOT a clone...and you’re talking an eBay purchase ??

Can you verify exact seller? The link is to a multitude of them. Ali Express is basically a foreign Ebay. Also, the one at the top of the page does not appear to have the latest software in the card.

Thanks

Hello,
Here is a verified one at a cheaper price: http://www.obd2eshop.com/wholesale/t...h-tis2000.html
The GM tech2 had good information on Youtube and the price was good. It took me a little time to understand the menu system but once I did I was very pleased.

^^^^ This. Bought mine at the same place, Alibaba. It's basically Chinese amazon. I wouldn't worry much about the seller, get a clone WITH the hard case and all the goodies for a few hundred bucks and you'll be thrilled. I would never buy a used one that's the "Real Thing" Because they ones on Alibaba ARE the real thing, just brand new. They've got all the updates already, right up to the very last firmware. The emulator software wouldn't scare me either.

I would also say if the GM MDI will work on the C5 generation, I'd buy that instead of the Tech 2 since it's the latest and greatest GM tool. I'm buying one very soon since I now own a C6.

(edit)
Well, here's the answer to that. I guess I'm keeping the T2.

The Future of the Tech 2
The Tech 2 remains an essential tool through at least the 2010 model year. The for GM MDI will not support past models when its diagnostic capabilities are introduced. And, the Tech2 will continue to be needed to diagnose all vehicles fromprevious model years. Remote programming with the Tech 2 will continue to be supported for use on all 2007 and previous vehicles.Additional information will be supplied in future.
