Default Reverse Lockout

Is there anything in the console area like a power or ground wire which would affect the reverse lockout solenoid on a 99?

I had begun the parts swap process from 99 to 03, in this case my DD center console, stereo, AEM gauges, reverse cam and aaaaall the wiring related.

I then once - and only once - was driving and managed to touch Reverse gear while driving gently. That shouldn't happen. The gate was not blocked.

Before I replace it, I thought I'd confer with the gurus here.

Also - right part number? 19178634 And lastly - since I have never replaced one of these - where is it? Out back on top of trans?

Nothing in the console can affect the reverse lock out solenoid, but I did mine last year and you don't have to lower the rear carriage, it's a blind install but it's not that hard.

Just replaced mine last week, my part number for AC/Delco was 19180052. It is located up on top of transmission accessible from passenger side, use a 1/4 ratchet with a deep 13mm socket to remove the one bolt to remove it. I had to place the shifter in any forward gear and leave the ignition switch in the ON position in order to get the plunger to retract to install the new one. It's great not having to worry about shifting into 5th gear again.

The solenoid does have a power and the ground comes from the PCM I believe !
