I have a 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition. It has the stock radio and one CD player. It would be nice to swap it and have the ability to play music from my iPhone as well as be able to answer my phone using bletooth. Does anyone have any recommendations on specific brands that would fit this generation corvette? I am not too concerned about the ability to play CDs but it would be a "nice to have". One option I'd like to have is a touch screen as well.
After a lot of research, I opted for a quick, easy, and relatively cheap way to add built-in bluetooth music and calling to the OEM system. All plug and play if you have the OEM CD changer. Pieced it together myself for about $65, but you can buy a new kit on Amazon for about $85.
- iSimple PDXP (found a used one on the auction site for $30) - iSimple PXHGM4 harness ($15 from a couple different sites) - Any 30 pin bluetooth receiver ($20 from the site where 2 day shipping has turned into 5 day shipping most of the time. you can probably find one cheaper if you don't care about hands-free calling)
Took me about an hour to install and darn near CD quality. If you really don't care about having hands-free calling AND you have an OEM changer in the "trunk", you can just use harness PXHGM2 and install would only take 2 minutes.
The only reason I went the PDXP (30 pin model designed for iPod use) route is because it powers the bluetooth receiver. If you use the PXDX "auxbox", you'll need to find a way to power the bluetooth receiver as well.
I did this several months ago now and am happy to report all works as planned. Call quality hasn't been a major issue either

Not a music wonk but my Bluetooth hands free device (Aigital Bluetooth Car Kit Speakerphone Wireless T821) cost $26.98 with shipping on Amazon. It clips on the sun visor. Works great.
Thanks but I would like the ability to answer my phone hands free
By answering it hands free, do you mean literally instructing your phone to answer the call without you having to touch anything? If that's what you mean, I'm fairly sure a voice command of "answer phone call" to either Android or Apple "smart assistant" should do the trick? Otherwise, I don't know of a system out there that will automatically answer a phone call without the push of a button and I honestly wouldn't want that lol

No. I mean being able to push a button on your steering wheel or dash to answer a phone call
It is amazing for the price. All of a sudden, my 2002 Z06 is capable of streaming Pandora, Spotify, Amazon, etc... With a single push of the button, you can answer your phone and talk hands free through the stereo of the car. I feel like a numbskull talking up bluetooth technology since nearly all new cars have it. This truly is a must have it you have a M6 in a vette. It even has 2 high powered USBs for phones, dash cams, etc... Honestly, I would have paid $75+ for this.... I bought it a couple weeks ago on sale for $12 with next day shipping.

WOW!!!..that is amazing!!! Thanks Naptown! Here I thought I had to replace the whole head unit...I'll just buy that and plug it into the cigarette lighter
One other option that hasn't been mentioned for those looking to add hands free use of your iPhone or an additional audio input from an iPod (or any other device that has an earphone output) is to send your head unit to one of the folks that can add an AUX jack to the face of your head unit that will play though your factory audio system. I sent my head unit to Factory Radio Service in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The cost with shipping was a bit over $100.
I loaded iTunes on my iPhone and when plugged in to my head unit, I can listen to my iTunes as well as answer and talk on my phone hands-free. I can manually answer the phone or use the voice commands to place or answer calls. Because it uses a standard stereo earphone jack, I can also use any other device that has an earphone output. Something as simple as the

The unit came in and I installed over the weekend and works great!!!

It's truly a must have at that price if you own a M6. More so, I don't want to mess with uninstalling/reinstalling the factory head unit. I've got a 600 mile road trip scheduled later this week and cannot wait to reap the benefits of this little gem.

Thanks again for the recommendation..It is a no brainer...who wants to take apart the dash when you can simply plug this in??

Question: I noticed when I plug the unit into the cigarette lighter, the digital readout on the adapter stays lit even after I turn the engine off. Because I do not want to drain the battery, I have been unplugging the unit when I am not driving the car. Have you been leaving your's plugged in when you're not driving?

I unplug it unless I'm just running into a store or something else quick. That's the only negative thing I have found about this device. I would like to research what it would take to make that 12v outlet 'switched' ignition power instead of always hot.

Thanks...what do you want for $17??? It's still a great device

I just ordered one of these thanks to this thread. If you push and hold the phone button for 3 seconds the unit should power off!
