So I've read the 3-4 shift fork and or key issue on the c5z. But they all say they cant get it out of gear after the car is turned off.
This has happened 3 times now. All on hot days. The trans will get stuck in 4th. Cant get out until I reach 20mph or below. Then pops out like nothing ever happened. It only happened when it's hot and I've either hit the rev limiter in 1st or 2nd then shift into 3rd and then into 4th to coast or when I sit in 4th at 50-55 cruising for a mile.
Would heat cause a stuck gear? Clutch engages and disengages no issues there but definitely feels different after what I can only imagine is overheating fluid.
Outside temp today was 103* with a 25min drive home in stop and go traffic
Called and we talked. Starting at the shifter (inspect and lube and adjust) and then its on to a fluid (ATF) change. 97K and it has the OEM ATF. That alone should make him smile. Recommended AMSOIL Torque Drive or synchromesh
