I looked in QandA, no luck, it's about my 2002 C5, 52,000 miles, as this is probably an ongoing question, just like my 92 cadillac eldorado and my 97 cadillac seville (now gone),
my horn alarm comes on from time to time, 52,000 miles on the car, as I remember if you don't turn off your car and open the door in the same
sequence each time, the alarm goes off, is this how it works?, can I turn off alarm by pushing the red button?. Thanks Ken
NO,, you have an issue. Does the horn sound in the ALARM BEEP, BEEP BEEP or does the horn just blare constantly like some one wad pressing the horn button??
You need to TEST each sensor that can cause the alarm to sound. You neighbors will hate you when you do this test!! LOL!!
Roll the windows down. Lock the car with the FOB. Reach in the car and open the door with the inside door pull. Alarm should sound.
Do that for the other door, trunk and hood. Open them from the inside when the door is locked and system is armed.
Use the key in the drivers door lock and make sure that it works electrically, I cant remember the exact sequence but you can turn it to the LOCK or UNLOCK position in two rapid turns in the same direction and the windows will both roll down.
The sensor that tells the BCM the door is open or shut is incorporated inside the door latch mechanism inside the door.
Thanks for reply Bill, it goes beep beep beep,I will drive it some where secluded before testing, meanwhile, can I turn it off by pressing
certain button on key fob?. thanks Ken
Thanks again Bill, what I meant was when I unlock door with fob and the alarm starts, can I press key fob button to silence it?, thanks for your patience
According to the manual, you can shut the alarm off by putting the key in driver's door and unlock, put key in the ignition, or press unlock on key fob
In the DIC OPTIONS Menu, you can have the FOB, unlock the drivers door OR BOTH Doors. Program the BCM to only unlock the drivers door and see if the alarm sounds when you unlock the car. That will eliminate the passengers door sensor from the alarm circuit. Sounds like the drivers door open sensor or unlock sensor is having an issue,
Some times this issue requires the TECH2 to see what status the alarm sensors are in and what sensor is causing the alarm to trip. That's what I wanted you to pop open different sensors to see if one failed to work correctly.
3sACROWD THANKS FOR THE BACK UP~
OP. Use that function to see of one of those sensors being operated trips the alarm.
