My drivers side fender just arrived. Thankfully. Never installed one. Wondering how hard it’s going to be to install. Ive been heavy industrial maintenance for years so I’m mechanically inclined. I’m confident I can do it. Just wondering what order of doing things is and what to expect and ensure I do.
Left my shop at 4. With ALL my tools! 🤦*♂️💩. Found a link earlier tools required were :
1/4 inch ratchet
7mm short socket
10mm deep socket
floor jack
jack stands
That’s all I remember lol. I’m an Industrial maintenance mechanic at a dry wall plant. 45 min one way or Home Depot 15 min 🧐
That hole/tab being broken is very common at the rear most edge of the fender.
I took the advice of many here with the same broken mounting hole and did this:
Fish the sheet metal tab out of the frame where the screw engages. Go buy a new one along with a slightly larger metal fender washer along with a rubber washer the same size. Use the rubber against the panel for grip, hold the fender for alignment, and tighten the screw.
Also, sometimes a small square of double sided body/molding tape helps in positioning. The new tab will accept a bit more torque than the older weathered one.
Did this fix three years ago and it's held perfectly.
