I have a 1999 C5 corvette. Today it died after starting twice. Then I tried again and revved it up a few times and was able to drive off. But after about 5 miles it died again going 45 mph. I coasted down to 30 mph and put it in neutral and it started and I was able to drive another 5 miles to home. In the garage it started 3 times and never died. The battery in an interstate about 8-9 months old. What could be the cause?

If your car was running fine previously for a while I would start with simple things
Change your fuel filter
Take your T-Body OFF and clean it well with Brakeclean--
If you have an oiled cold air intake you may have fouled your MAF
Take the MAF off and clean with Brakeclean as well
Finally re set your computer It may have gotten a "glitch" happens all the time
To reset dis connect one battery connection overnight and re connect
You need to find out if the car is shutting down because it having an electrical module issue OR if it shutting down like you turned the ignition key OFF.
When it dies, without turning the ignition key off, clear any messages using the reset button and then read the DTCs using the C5 built in DTC reading system. Post that info.
If there are not any related DTCs, the Ignition Switch could be your issue. Out ignition switch is very problematic and can cause this issue. The contacts inside get burnt and the voltage out of the switch goes too low and the PCM/BCM turns off. (just like you turned off the ignition switch)
My problem has amplified somewhat. I show no codes even on my scanner. However, after letting the car sit all night and starting it in the morning, it does not want to start. It turns over very fast but it took about four tries to start the car. I drove the car about 3 miles and it died. It took about 3-4 tries and started again. I noticed that when it would not start my gauges did not light up. When they did the car started. I did get one message that time that said "low voltage". Would this be the ignition switch? Thanks for the help!
