I have read articles on how to clean up the contacts, but I just want to buy a new one and be done with it. Does it have to be re keyed? What does that entail. Can I just buy a new one and put the key in. Is it plug in and go Thanks

Lock cylinder is seperate from switch, when you pull the switch just save the lock cylinder and reinstall. BTW I have a brand new ignition switch if you want for 1/2 the price, I replaced then went to a keyless system, my loss your gain.
The wires just came out of the white female pins anyone know the correct order for them to put back in? The ones that go underneith the ignition switch. The bunch with the orange wire. etc

I think new contractors will last longer than sanding the burned ones.
Does anyone know the part number for a c5 z06 contractor section ?
Or maybe someone sells just a better set of contractors?
Thanks for the help.
Just did this job while I had the dash apart replacing bulbs, installing a head unit, and waiting on the HVAC unit to be rebuilt. It should be pretty straight forward where the connectors go. Pull the vats wire, the connectors on the bottom of unit, turn key to run position, small srew driver to push down to release tumbler, tumbler into new switch, reinstall in reverse order. 10 minute job if the dash is already apart. If you are a little concerned about what harness goes where...leave the new switch loose...pop batt negative back on and cylce key to see if it works as it should before buttoning it back up. You got this bud
