Is beginning to intrude on the fun factor! 2003, owned it about a year and 10K miles (sitting at 62K now). Have changed the gas cap 2X. Have a GM, supposedly correct cap now, still got a check engine light occasionally (with oil pressure and temp good). Just recently checked the codes after the light came on and the only one showing was "58-SDMU 1040 H". ? Cleared that and still have a check engine light. The last couple of times this has happened I was at 3/4 tank. With filling up (and maybe screwing with the cap as well) the light went out. What else needs looking into/replaced? Evaporative emissions purge solenoid or the evaporative emissions canister valve? Somewhat complicated by being 75 miles from a competent shop so trying to chase down some possible fixes. Appreciate any input.

Yeah, DIC checked for codes. Source I have didn't list the code that came up. ?
I have owned many g.m. vehicles and can say that the rule and not the exception is that every one of them has a check engine light
scare, and know one seems to know what to do about it, I've only owned my 2002 C-5 for about a month now, it is also showing c.e.l.,
not to get excited, at a lapse in common sense I bought a 2007 dodge magnum, same thing, only I cured it on my own,it only involved pulling a certain fuse for a few minutes, and it never came on again, dodge also had the same b.s. response to change the cap, some people even replaced their
fuel pumps, can't find a fuse for my vette, I know it's annoying, but don't sweat it.
Another thing is be sure you are not continuing to pump after it clicks the first time. It can cause issues with the system to try and get that last little bit in, something about the recirculation system and air.
On this check engine light business, went out and ran the codes again. 10-PCM P0101 H came up. Cleared it and the CEL went out. In a search on Google "oil from a saturated air filter can contaminate the MAF sensor element and throw this code". It has a K&N air filter in this 2003 when I bought it so I just serviced it and have been driving it. Possibility some filter oil has been pulled into the MAF? Have noticed a surge/hesitation right at 4K RPM, sound like this might be associated with a MAF problem? Could the MAF be accessed and cleaned with some contact cleaner or best to replace? I'd go back to a OEM type paper air filter if this is going to continue to be an issue.
Appreciate any input.
