Thermostat needs replaced, debating the 160 or the 180.
Many thoughts?

Where do you live (HOT OR COLD CLIMATE)??

How do you drive the car?

When do you drive the car SUMMER/ WINTER/ BOTH?

I personally would use the 180 deg stat and have the fans reprogrammed to come on sooner and run longer.

Do a complete coolant flush swap. Use distilled water and flush run fil flush/ run the engine/flush & fill till the water runs clean and refill with straight DEXCOOL till you get the correct dilution of water & Dexcool.

If you have not up-graded the coolant reservoir cap to the new 18 pound cap, recommend that you do.

I am doing a full flush this winter & replacing the stat with a 180, I have HP Tuners but not sure what temps are recommended for that swap, I planned to just drop the temps by 10 for the fans, any insight on that.

What’s the advantage of upgrading to the 18 pound coolant reservoir cap?

Take it out on the highway with the new thermostat and see what temperature it stabilizes at. Then, set the fan off about 5*C higher, low fan on 5*C above off and high fan on 5*C above low fan on. Try it and see how you like it and then you can adjust from there. Might be able to take it down to 3-4*C steps and still work OK.

I have 160F and lowered fan on temps, at South Florida. No problems here.

180.
I ran a 160 on a C4 years ago, I found the heater never got hot enough on the coldest days, went back to 180 and it was much better. since then I use 180 or 185 t-stats whenever I'm changing them.
