I have a new Tech 2 clone with GM software version 33.004. When I go to chassis special functions the menu does not list automated bleeding. It has automated test, which will check the valves, but
no automated bleeding feature. Am I missing something, do I need a newer version of software? Is there something on the CD's that came with it that adds this feature?
You have a 1999, but listed it as a 2000 in the tech 2?
When I go through the menu this is what I get:
Opened Tech 2 main menu The screen shows: • F0 Diagnostics • F1 Service Programming System • F2 View Captured Data • F3 GM Performance Parts Diagnostic • F4 Tool Options
Selected F0, Diagnostics Selected Model year (2000) Selected Passenger Car Selected F2 Chassis Selected Product Line (Y) “establishing communication” seen on screen Screen displayed: CAUTION: “ABS Braking is not available when ABS/TCS lamps are illuminated” (Note: I had no Codes related to the ABS or TCS and no light on the dash) Pressed the “continue” key selection. The right-most softkey was highlighted. Screen Reads: “Chassis” F0 ABS/TCS F1 RTD
Selected F0, ABS/TCS
Screen Reads: • F0 DTC • F1 Data Display • F2 Special Functions • F3 Snapshot • F4 ID information
Selected F2 Special Functions
Screen Reads: (Note, I think I should have a function key at this step for Automated Bleed, but it is not there) • F0 Automated Test • F1 Solenoid Test • F2 TCS Test • F4 TCS Switch Information
Selected F0 Automated Test
Screen showed ready for test and a softkey highlighted for CONTINUE.
Pressed CONTINUE softkey
ABS pump activated for a second or two.
Showed test complete and okay
Press exit to continue
Pressed exit and it goes back to the previous menu.
the write up in my thread was by someone else, I have used the Auto bleed many times, 99 coupe more than a couple times, 02 Z06 many times (Auto X it) 06 Z06 many times, (Auto X it) and my 06 Chevy truck !!!!!!
Not using the CANdi box, should I be? I thought it was for the later models.
I'm sorry I don't pay attention to all the stuff I do (like it's a reflex) but I do believe you need to use the Candi box, won't hurt to try ??? (I always leave the Candi box hooked up )
Candi made no difference. All other functions are available and work fine. The 2000 model is kind of unique, different than the 98/99 and before the 2001 upgrades. Obviously the automated bleeding feature is not available for the 2000. Bummer, that was my main reason for purchasing the tech 2
I think you have to choose 1997 or 1998 to get the Automated bleed to show up .
This is how my Tech2win screen looks like when I choose 97 or 98 .
If I choose 99 or 00 the F1:Automated Bleed does not show up on my Tech2win or my Tech2 clone .
I will try out the rest of the Automated Bleed prosedure using Tech2win later this winter when I replace the brake fluid .
I did get it to show up when selecting the 98/99. I'll try that again. I was looking in my shop manual and it makes no reference to the tech 2 in the brake bleeding section
I have only done the two initial screen shown above but will try to carry out the whole Automated bleed procedure when my wheels are off later .
Maybe do some screen dumps of the different Tech2win screens and post it here at CF
