Default Leaking oil when getting on it

Ok so I've been trying to locate this leak. I noticed that when I get on it the car (2004 Z06 with 35000 miles) leaks oil onto the exhaust and smokes also oil psi is @ 54psi when I noticed it today. Lower oil pan gasket looks wet I put dye in it today. I also noticed it has the stock upper oil pan gasket and looks like the rivet on the driver side has some oil on it.anyone have any issues similar?

recently went through lot of oil leak searching. My passenger side right next to the battery would smoke. Turned out to be upper oil pan gasket. Replaced lower as well. Resolved the issue for me. But as you know oil leaks are tough to track down. 20 year old gaskets are starting to fail these days. (Smoking stopped after the oil pan gaskets, but I also replaced rear main and oil sender too. But these seemed unrelated to the smoking)

Fixing to have to get oil leaking issues address here also. Leaks from back, front, sides. Nothing really bad but hate it. Worst is I'm getting too old and worn out to do that myself as pretty sure the engine gonna needed to be dropped. May as well have them do the front pully and seal and rear also. At 143K miles on my '03 Coupe used as pretty much a daily I have all else working pretty good. So, estimate time at a shop about 35 miles from me that does a lot of Vette mods. I figure this work is gonna be 2 or 3 thousand by the time it said and done. Hopefully closer to the 2 k bucks mark.

Take some pictures and show us what you see. Otherwise we are just guessing.

I would take a look at the oil pressure sensor first, since it will leak more when you get on it, since it is on the pressurized side of the oiling system. Oil leaks on the oil pan gaskets can be possible, but they would not leak more when you get on because they are not on the high pressure side of the oiling system.

Get a mirror and a flashlight and look at the upper block area behind the manifold. Especially around the Oil Pressure Sender. If you see any oil that high, you need to start there.

The op sensor is good. Thanks for bring it up though. One of the first things I checked when I got the car and still check it about once a month.

That I have not done! but will this afternoon. I have pulled the covers and looked at as much as I could see with a flashlight. Thanks for bring up the mirror. I have some just for that.

IF you find that the OPS is not leaking,, If it were ME, I would snug up the upper and lower pan bolts

NOTE/CAUTION! DO NOT retorque them to factory specs. ESPECIALLY the rear two cover bolts. They can and will strip. If you have lower pan bolts, they are very fragile. Just snug up all the bolts (I use a 1/4" drive ratchet ) and make sure they are all evenly tightened.

Clean up the bottom of the engine and monitor.

I checked them a few months back Bill. And very gently. Have an appointment with a Vette shop today for an estimate on the engine work. Really don't want to get rid of the car as I have all else working good.

Done deal on my '03 with 140K plus miles. Went to Raginracin near Scott, La this morning and got a quote of 2400 bucks to change the gaskets and front damper/pulley. Done gave him 500 to order all the gaskets.

Front engine seals and gasket, Rear seals and gaskets. Valve cover gaskets also and anything else they find leaking. Having to take all off to get to the engine as a whole. I've very satisfied with the price and know of their work. More of a speed shop than just a garage. Lots of high performance work done there.

You may want to consider doing the timing chain, oil pump, motor/tranny mounts, lifters, H2O pump, shocks, while you are in there. Once they lift the body off the subframe its all right in front of them.
