Default HELP PLEASE!!! RST twin disk issues

So. Installed the new clutch kit with the McLeod flywheel and am having some issues. Followed directions thoroughly fyi. But maybe I missed something.

1. Clutch engagement point changes as well as the stiffness of the pedal. I beleive it is the master cylinder so I have a tick performance one I can install but wanted your guys’s input first.

2. Sometimes, when the clutch engages, there is no leeway. It’s either grabbing 100% or not at all. And makes the car jump as your probably imagining lol. But I can remedy this by pumping the clutch from the floor to about half the throw high a few times and then take off in 1st.

does anybody have any input in these issues? All with be appreciated thank you in advance.

The first thing that I would do is change the master cylinder. Get the system properly bled and go from there.

NOTE! The TICK Master is ADJUSTABLE! YOU MUST adjust it properly or you can damage the pressure plate and throwout bearing!
NOTE! Tick sells a couple of different piston size master cylinders. I would recommend the stock size master cylinder.

When you install the TICK Master, always start with the adjustment rod collapsed and then lengthen it just enough so that when you depress the clutch, (trans in gear engine running) the rear wheels no longer drive under power when the clutch is fully depressed. You should be able to STOP any rear wheel motion/rotation easily!
From that point you can make MINOR adjustments for peddle position and to make sure that you don't have any shifting issues under power.

Before you do any disassembly, give that rear wheel rotation test a go and see if the clutch is properly disengaging when fully depressed. Do you have a remote bleeder?

Bill

Curious what was your old clutch doing that caused you to change it? Same symptoms?

Pedal is stiffer and engages differently because you changed the pressure plate as well. My mantic 9000 twin disk, pedal is much stiffer it over factory also engages much differently being a twin disk.

I have a SPEC Dual Disk and other than it being a little more clutch peddle effort (because of the Tick 3/4" master cylinder), it really engages/disengages like stock. If I would have installed the stock size Tick Master (didn't make on at the time I purchased it) it would have been pretty near an OEM peddle pressure.

Interesting bill, maybe mantic is different. The first time around I did the mantic I had oem master cylinder and the clutch pedal was much more stiff then stock.

this time around I had Ecs do the install of a new mantic for me with a tick master cylinder and clutch pedal is the same stiffness but the pedal throw itself is much less

McLeod advised us on our rst and rxt against the aftermarket unless it's the smaller size not the larger size one. I just cant remember what sizes they offer.
the McLeod twin is designed to run with stock hydraulics.
I have the rxt same clutch been in 2 cars I love it tad stiffer than the stock ls6. The rst we put in buddies 03z is little softer than stock but it is awesome. Buddy just put the rst in his bird he loves it. Said its softer than the ls7 clutch he had. His pedal engagement is different he and I think he needs to bleed better.
I love McLeod twins for all cars. So nice. Use stock flywheel stock hydraulics just add a bleeder.

UPDATE:
changed the master for a oem one. And that was the issue. Bled it for 5 mins and had solid pedal pressure. Car shifts at 6k like butter now. Thanks for the replies and help
