Performance Primer?
As my sig shows, I've done most of the easy, bolt-on mods. Some time next year I may do something more agressive/invasive. Does anyone have recommendations for a good primer (preferably available on the web) where I can learn more about the various paths I might take, i.e. cams, heads, headers, turbo-, supercharging, etc.? (I'm almost certainly not going to do NOS.) Ideally, I'd like to read something not by a vendor that goes into some detail about the pros and cons, costs and benefits and how-tos on this level of modifications. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

I recommend you pick up a copy of "How to Understand, Service, and Modify Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Management" by the late Charles O. Probst. It covers about everything you'll want to know about pros and cons under Chapter 9: Tuning for Performance and Economy.
You pick it up at your local bookstore. It's really a great book.

Thanks Tiger Shark -- that's exactly the kind of recommendation I was looking for. It's available at amazon and, while I was ordering this, I saw a book by Lingenfeldter himself on the same subject, so I snagged that, too. Should have thought to just enter the relevant search terms into amazon's catalog. duh!
