Mite be a dumb question >>> but got myself a cracked upper oil pan. Tech is telling me there is a bar or frame piece almost against the pan (front) .... not quite sure what he's talking about (I've not been able to see for myself as yet) Thought I mite try to find out what i'll be look for when I do get down there ...????? and how could it have damaged the oil pan ????

Best bet is to find the damaged area and show us what he is talking about. Take a good picture or two and show us the relationship between the pan and contact point.
IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You have contact with anything between the engine and cradle, it could VERY WELL BE CAUSED BY BAD ENGINE MOUNTS!! I would check that right off the bat..

Is the damaged area leaking oil??
Thanks Bill ... so here's the update ... appears a rock was jammed up between the spring and the oil pan ... looks like it had been seeping some for some time. When I jacked up the car it was enough pressure to punch a hole in the oil pan. The techs did check the engine mounts and reported all was well.
So in the process of replacing the oil pan and of course cleaning things up. How in the world a rock could find its way up there is still a mystery but it is what it is ...
