Default AC not working - button flashing

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so don't hesitate to roast me 😂

I've had a look through some old forum posts but I haven't been able to find much regarding this fault.

I've recently had an issue whereby my JDM '00 coupe won't activate the AC all the time, some days it works fine and other days the button will flash 5 times and the compressor won't activate.

I've recently carried out a professional re-gas and leak detection and it came back saying my system is tight so I'm wondering, is the AC activation in our cars temperature sensitive as here in the sunny UK it's circa 35F at the moment? Or is this more likely to be some sort of electrical gremlin?

Any suggestions appreciated,
Many thanks all 😊

My 04 manual says A/C will not work when temps are below 35 to 40F. Appears your system is operating as designed.

If there's genuinely a problem and the lights flash on the head unit, you can pull codes and it'll tell you what's wrong.

Thanks for your replies, I check for codes pretty much daily at the moment and I haven't had any HVAC faults since I bought the car.
If the manual says that AC doesn't function under 35-40F then I'll trust that this is what is happening.
Thanks for clearing things up 👍🏼
