Default Climate Control ?

2000 Convertible with 59k. Optional dual zone controls.

Simple question I hope. It's winter here in MI but I've been able to take her out a few times since Thanksgiving. Every time I turn the heat on (Auto or manual), the AC compressor light comes on. Does the compressor always need to be engaged or is that the Auto system doing it's thing, and clearing the windshield (even though it's clear)?

I have checked the airflow settings on the display, and even when directed at the floor, the A/C light is on.

Thanks for the info.

Yes - the light will come on in AUTO mode - it's an often asked question. The owners manual makes reference that you can hit the AC button to take it out of auto mode. That comment is made in the MANUAL operation description of the system under in the 2004 manual which provides a slightly better description that the 2000 manual.
