Moved? I felt it was way more of a scan tune deal.
I scored a free EFI Live V2 setup.
One of my customers passed it along.
Seems it might do things HPT won’t.
And free is a very good price!

I think like anything else.... pros/cons both ways. I've found some tables that HPT has that EFI doesn't and vise versa. Flex fuel wise, EFI has a lot more of the ethanol cranking/afterstart tables from what I noticed poking thru the HPT software. Probably depends on what PCM / OS etc too.
I was very intrigued by the new HPT interface but seems like a lot of the promised features have really been taking forever to come out....black box logging, more external inputs etc. Big reason I did EFI was because I wanted a handheld device for logging and flashing. Most of the time I just take the logs with the flashscan V2 and then review it later at home on the PC. At a track day I can log an entire session easily. On a dyno or something, sure....just use the laptop, but it's nice not having to lug it around. I think the learning curve may be a little higher with EFI using the software, and it's kinda confusing how they have both the older v7.5 and newer v8 software....but once I figured it out, it all works really nice and laid out very well I think. I use the older V7.5 mostly as it still has more features (V8 has been 'in development' for years lol)...but some stuff like having to edit a text/config file to setup custom parameters may be a turn off for some unstandably.
Also I think HPT they charge $100 or 150 to use custom defined tables-- free/included with EFI and you can just drag and drop the config files I posted above.
MVPI1 will log with no laptop. I’ve never used the feature.
i don’t have the MPVI2, I understand that feature doesn’t work.
User defined parameters does cost. Never used that either.
If, EFI Live will let me change VIN on an incorrect OS, I’ll use it for that.
EFI Live does have a better boost setup. I have an EFI Live 3bar Tune read with HPT back before there were no restrictions, I may use it sometime.

Yes, there is a simple Change VIN function right there with commanding a VATS relearn in the menu. 30 second ordeal.
What I liked about the EFI boosted COS was that it adds a new MAP vs timing pull table. I was well beyond the torque/dyncylair limits on the spark table, so that gives you a lot more flexibility running less timing with more boost on the same tune, or better account for elevation differences etc. I don't think I saw that on HPT, but I could be wrong.
On second thought, if you just need a simple VIN change, check out PCM hammer- open source and free. I have done some basic stuff with it (VIN change, PCM read) with OBDLink MX and it's worked great..I guess it was nice since I already had the OBDLink that I bought years ago. But anyways that's my go-to now for any basic stuff like changing VIN, disabling codes etc. You could do some more full-up tuning with it, but the logging features and such still leave a lot to be desired.
Did a little more nerding out to figure out the actual PID info for the ethanol stuff, so you could view ethanol content, ethanol sensor frequency and fuel temp in Torque phone app or similar.
All I do is open the app and walla....it’s there’s
Yeah, the video I posted earlier shows the ethanol content updating real time after I filled the tank with E85. As ethanol content increases, commanded AFR/stoich is updated and it's adding spark advance based on ethanol content too as defined by the ethanol spark table. It all works in the background and really requires no intervention. I just wanted to figure out how I could see the ethanol content value within the PCM with a simple phone app so I don't have to whip out the laptop or flashscan if I wanted to see what the current ethanol content was.
Maybe this helps you it’s not a torque app but ..it will do the job of what u want ...
however if ur not in a rush I will do some research in something similar linked to the entire obd2 system with ethanol analytics.(run with or look alike a torque app )
Hell I could adapt a performance module on that something of stage 3-4

I just added some HPT files. a stock Z06 tune with FF enabled and table definition files. Not an exact copy of what I have on the EFI Live one..but eh, close enough.
Has anyone tried a P59 PCM from a 2004 GTO? This is the only PCM I am aware of that has functional "Lean Cruise". I would love to get this working on my 2002 C5 Z06. Not worried about the repinning or anything else outlined, just wondering about OS swapping and campatibility with gauges etc. Curious if I can just segment swap all the various additional OS's over from my 2002 P01 PCM.
Anyone? Thanks

Here is a comparison of the controllers between my 2002 C5 Z06 (P01) and a 2004 GTO (P59)
It appears this particular 2004 GTO uses a common 2004 C5Z operating system. Could I not segment swap all of the remaining OS's or certain ones to try and resolve any issues?
