Default Trunk release/fog light dash switch dead

2001 c5 Convertible. The Trunk release/fog light dash switch is dead as well as the panel with the reset button right of the cluster. My trunk can be opened with my fob or the key in the door so I know the lock actuator works fine. No light comes on the fog switch and the entire right panel doesn't work including the reset switch. My cluster display shows welcome, door ajar and press brake to shift. I cannot display any codes or use the tripometer. I check all the fuses on the passenger side floor board as well as the engine fuses and the grounds in the engine bay. I do have to take the dash apart for the overhead display mirror fix. Do any of the relays control the cluster ICP board? Is the trunk release button tied into the clusters computer? Other then buying a used cluster off ebay I'm out of ideas. Any constructive help is appreciated.

Is it intermittent or the switch never works? Do a simple test: Press the trunk release switch with the engine running, then turn the engine off and press the trunk release switch again.

Thanks for replying. Its totally dead seeing how my right panel with the reset button is dead too I'm thinking they may be tied together in some fashion. If not, then I may need to buy a new switch. Is there anyway you know of by passing the switch by unplugging the trunk switch and test it using a jumper wire. I have to see if I can figure out the wiring diagram. The car is to old to ask a chevy dealer. It took them 5 hours figure out a short on my neighbors C5. Any help is appreciated.
