Gas Gage Help

I have my Y2K in the shop today for the 2nd attempt to repair my fuel gauge(still under warranty). Everyone I know that has a C5 has this problem including model year 2002. Haven't seen anyone with a 2003 with the problem, but I am sure GM has not come up with a fixe at this time or mine would have been repaired correctly this past September when I had it in the shop the first time. If you search this site you will find quite a few different ideas/oppinions as to why you are having the fuel gauge problem. Some say it is the sulfur in the gas and you should change brands. Others say you should never use the same brand, but to use fresh gas and see who sells the most so you know you are getting the freshest gas. My first repair under warranty was $466.00. The dealer installed the following components. 088895126 Module kit, 088899034 Sensing kit, 012459862 Stainer kit. The gauge worked perfect from September 24th until November 26th when it did exactly what it did back in September. If your car is under warranty get it repaired, if it is not under warranty you will probably be throwing your money away since GM doesn't seem to have a fix at this time. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I am currently in the same shoes you are in :mad
Don't know how long you have had your vette or what year it is, but the other problems I see most C5 owners have is the leaking differential case cover and the broken positive terminal on the battery. Just went through that 2 weeks ago. My Y2K just hit 14100 miles today, so it is babied and well taken care of. Warranty expires in April and I hope GM gets the fuel gauge fixed before that time comes and goes.
Got my car out of the shop yesterday about 1700. Again the dealer replaced the right hand sending unit at a cost to GM of $360.00. I am so glad all this is happening under warranty. I just hope GM comes up with a pemanent fix so I don't have to keep going back every 2 months or so. On the way home stopped and filled it up with some good Hess gasoline because I know it is fresh gas. The gauge immediately went to full like it is supposed to do. I will post another message if I see this fuel gauge problem come back. I have my fingers crossed that this is the one that is going to work until we decide to get rid of the car and buy another new one. :)
