My 02 Base Vert (76K Miles) has a rhythmic vibration that is most noticeable at about 75 MPH. It vibrates for a second and then stops for a second or two and then does it again. Its as if the road is uneven but it does not matter where in the road I am the vibration is the same. Sweeping turns left or right dont make a difference. I can feel it in the steering wheel and in the car in general. At lower speeds I dont notice it. I feel it less at speeds over 80 MPH but it is still there.
I have looked at other threads about this. Apparently it's a problem others have had and complained about. But I have yet to find a thread that found the solution.
I was thinking of replacing all suspension bushings or maybe wheel bearings but I dont want to just toss money at it. Any ideas?
Good luck. When you find answer let me know. I have done harmonic balancer, brakes, rotors and now new tires. Problem still there. This is a challenge and really don't know where to take it.
Not my vette, but on my Toyota pickup I had the same issue for far too long. Found myriad things wrong, including u-joints, and worn steering, wheel bearings. Pulled out what little hair I had left. Frustrated beyond belief, I went to my tire shop for one last balance check -- even though the vibration was rhythmic and random. They made me come out to see what they found on the spin balancer -- the treads on three out of the four tires were randomly ballooning out from the tire cases, retained by the edges of the tread rubber. Tires were about 8 years old, but with only 10K or so miles on them. New tires ended my year old frustration.
Same problem in my C5 a couple years ago. The tires had not been balanced in quite a while so got them redone and the problem went away.
Same here too! Just 2 weeks ago I experienced a similar vibration and had all 4 tires re-balanced. The shop said they were "off a little" and they did change the weight size and location on all 4 wheels and the vibration is now gone. My vibration was from 62-ish to 68-ish. Good luck!
