Default '99 coupe engine repair question

Okay, guys. Can one pull the pan (both pieces) with the engine still in the car? Without raising the engine?

Part 2 - What's this I hear about some LS1s not having offsets in the pistons for the piston pin and others having an offset? Something about early/late and piston slap and etc.

The whole pan won't come out without dropping the cradle or raising the engine.
piston slap is pretty common on these motors, it's a piston to cylinder wall clearance issue. If it goes away after a slight warm up it's not a problem

Thank you. We think it's a wrist pin sizing issue, but whatever it is, it is annoying!!!

Are you aware of the offset issue?

That's a question for a professional engine builder. Offset pins are used in different situations like turbo charging, boring over standard, reducing piston slap
