Default Crank no start

So my car which is an 04 has always had a problem crank no starting the first time you try to start the car then it will turn on immediately the second time you go to start it ,
however this is not always consistent sometimes it will turn on the first time.
I cleaned the contacts in the ignition switch
I have changed the cam sensor and crank sensor
I’ve put a new battery and spliced in some new wires on the crank sensor since some were burnt.

now the other day I was driving and the car just turned off on me and won’t turn back on.
I have confirmed fuel pressure
And cleaned the four grounds in the engine bay ,
any ideas as to what it could be 🤯

On the first crank attempt with no start-- will it crank for as long as you hold the key, then you release the key, and it starts right up on the second attempt? Is it throwing any codes? Try to get a scan tool that can do real-time monitoring and see if it throws anything when you turn the key to "run" but don't try to start yet. Are you getting a flashing or solid "SECURITY" light on the cluster?

Holy smokes,, Enter the DIC DTC reading routine and CLEAR ALL of those DTCs and then see what comes back when it fails to start/run. Repost what comes back. Hopefully the list will be a LOT shorter!

Do you have an auto or manual C5?

Is the fuel pump priming when you FIRST turn on the key? Do you actually have fuel pressure after the first key on? If so, what is it. You will need to attach a fuel pressure gage to the fuel rail Schrader valve (front of the drivers side fuel rail) Please post that first crank fuel pressure. Also post the second crank/run pressure.

Bill

My first thought is fuel pressure related for sure. Clear those codes out for sure and try reading the pressure through a series of tests like mentioned above.

I think I found the problem.
started compression testing the car and it is all over the place so I’ll be pulling the timing covers off and inspecting 😐🔫🔫🔫
