Your OEM key had a very specific RESISTANCE VALUE in the imbedded resistor chip in the key that the BCM used to verify that the correct key is being used. There are 12 different resistance values that can be selected from. If you purchased a new key that had the SAME resistance value; then NO you would NOT need to do anything to make the BCM happy. If the key that you received has a different resistance value, then there is an entire different procedure that needs to be done to make the BCM happy.
The easiest remedy would be to have your new key cylinder re pinned to use the old OEM key. The dealer or a locksmith can preform that function on the new key cylinder.
