Default seat conversion problem

I recently installed a set of power C6 seats in my base C5. I went the easy route for wiring them up by purchasing an adapter from Vetteworks that was supposed to do the trick. All the seat functions worked like they were supposed to except for the memory but I knew I'd loose that function ahead of time. Unfortunately what didn't work was the telescoping function for my steering wheel.
I connected with Dan at Vetteworks about the issue after the fact and I felt very confident that he would take care of it, he was not aware of the telescoping function but he said he would rectify within the week with new adapters. The frustrating part is he has stopped responding and I'm still stuck with a non functioning telescoping wheel.
After several attempts to connect, Dan @ Vetteworks has gone AWOL apparently leaving it up to me to figure out. Pretty frustrating after how much I spent on the adapters.

has anyone gone thru the pain of wiring up C6 seats in a C% by chance? Or if someone else has had a similar problem and has figured out which part of the plug I need to power to get my telescoping wheel to function again. I would be grateful for the guidance.

Thanks in advance

The telescoping wheel isn't going to work without the C5 seat control module, which I am pretty sure the C6 conversion harness doesn't interface with. Same with memory seats - they won't be functional either.

The memory seat cars have two plugs, while the non-memory car has one. Without seeing a harness diagram, I wonder if you can just build a jumper from the blue memory harness to the seat module. Or conversely put in a T harness to use the C5 seat module at least for the memory feature.

The only thing that concerns me is if you put a non-memory seat into a memory seat car and don’t hook up the memory connector the seat switch doesn’t behave correctly. The lumbar system works but the seat controls do not.

When I cobbled together my rebuilt Sport seats I used parts of an early C5 seat w/o memory, a late C5 seat with memory and a Z06 seat with memory but no lumbar.

There are 2 ways to get the telescopic column working. First is to integrate the C5 seat control module and harness. The other is to build a stand alone relay module for the telescopic column control.
I have built a module for a friends car to do this when we added a telescopic column to a car that did not have one.

Atthelake, where are you located? If in Southern California I can directly configure the necessary circuit to make the column work properly. PM me or reply here.

Gary
BTW, I have done both C6 and C7 seats into a C5.

For option 2 building a stand alone control module for the telescopic column, see post 18 in the following thread. I posted a schematic for how to make it work.

I spoke with dan before I bought mine back in august, he said the same thing, that he was unaware of the problem, but that he was doing to make a harnass that worked --- I just got them last week, haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
but he did tell me, in email and in multiple calls, that the harness woould retain the telescope funcitno

Good Morning Gary,

I am unfortunately half way across the country in Kansas. When I swapped the seats I was too eager in selling the C5 seats so I let them go, so no extra parts left over. Looks like I'm going to need to go the stand alone relay route. I'd certainly appreciate any info on building the relay module if you get the time to lay it out for me, if not I certainly understand. I do appreciate knowing which way I need to go with this.

Thanks a lot,
Terry

I think I'll give him a call, hopefully he's got it figured out. Good to know.

Thanks!

Gary- I recently replaced my standard memory seats with Sport seats. The leather on the Sports are in much better shape and I like the air bladders with the Sport. Do you have a suggestion on how to get my telescopic column to work. It would be a bonus if the memory functions for the seat and column worked too.

Thanks
Mark

Can you please post a pic of the harnesses Dan sent you? Specifically the pin layout? I want to see if they're any different than what he sent me.

I'll have to take the seat out to get a good picture of it. Let me see what I can get for you.

You will need to move the harness and seat control module from the old seats to the new ones.
If you can provide a couple of pictures of your old seats (the wiring on the bottom showing the connectors and the Seat Control module specifically) I can give you some more specific instructions.

Here are my stock two connector memory drivers seat and my Sport no memory with bladders single connector drivers seat.

Thanks for any advice!

Looks like your replacement seats are from a 1997. I looked through the spare parts I have and don't have the correct seat harness you would need to keep everything functional. Every harness I have is for a 1998-2004 seat. And none of the ones I have have the connector for the telescopic column. The 1997 sport seats are different than the other years. They have a different pump module for the bladders.

Let me think on this a bit for a solution.

Gary

Just noticed in the pictures that the new sport seat pictures were of the passenger seat, not the driver.
Also, can you remove the seat control module from the drivers sport seat, need a picture of the part number label to verify option.
