A not to old of study (government funded of course) showed that cow flatuence was a major source of air pollution.....will we see syphilitic...I mean, catalytic converters on them in the future?

Removing your cats is a (yes) a personal choice or decision, but you are breaking the law in most states if you do so. Drinking and driving is also a
personal choice, driving a car without insurance is a personal choice, driving an unsafe vehicle, driving with no licence is also a personal choice but they all are against the law to do and we all who follow the laws and are law abiding also get to pay for you who are irresponsible enough or think they are better than the rest of us and can break the laws. The cats were engineered into your car for a reason so when you remove them for you own personal gain or your choice you just show the rest of us law abiding forum members the type of irresponsile individual you are who probably would'nt think twice at breaking a few other laws for a couple more H.P.

mozart; don't fall off your chair; but I agree with you. I wouldn't remove my main cats due to the reasons you stated.

But I won't allow the environ-mentalcases to sway my decisions either. Thats all I was addressing;' those indoctrinated by the media & professors... but haven't figured it out yet that they had been messed with.

"A car with removed cats pollutes as much as 100 cars with them working. "

Lets look at that statement for a while, and add in a few random pieces of information.

Car&driver has an editorial about 2 years ago where Cere was talking with a Chrystler engineer. That engineer indicated that while driving down the road, the typical car emits only about 2% of the polutants it is allowed to emit.

Cars are sniffed to levels high enough that a worst case car emitting exactly the allowed emissions will not fail the sniffer test.

These two, taken together substantiate the guoted claim.

However, the current allowed polution levels are <3% of the unregualted levels typical before any polution controls (wev'e cleand up 97% of the cars emissions). So a car taken back to pure pre-emissions levels of preformance (like 12.5:1 WOT mixture, no cats, no PCV valve, 108 degree cams) can emit 30,000 times the polution levels of the typical car cruising down the hiway.

The group size does not have to be very big for a multiplier of 30,000 to show up an a measureable effect!

Nothing to do with exhaust, but after reading this, I got me a hankerin' to put another 12 pointer on my wall.

I hear you. I ain't been out hunting for a long time now.

I'm the last guy anyone would call an environmentalist. I just hate to see good engineering flushed down the toilet along with needless smogging up of the air I breathe and giving the real whacko's yet another log on their fire to put all of us on 30 mph "urban commuter vehicles" (aka, golf carts).

I'm staying out of ecological debate mainly because anything I would have said, already has been, only better.

However, removal of the cats is a federal crime. Obviously, the feds are too busy taking care of more important things right now to go after catless wonders; however, federal guys buy 'Vettes just like anyone else and if one of them lives near you and you don't have a cat and he/she is on this board and you **** him/her off...they may just decide to work overtime. A simple call from them to a local PD friend of their's would be easy.

Just offering a very remote possibility.
