First check the fuse. That is likely your problem. Although I've heard of locking gas caps causing this issue as well. There is an emergency release pull in your truck that will allow you to open the filler door.
The emergency release is a very tiny steel cable up near the left rear wheel well.
It's possible the connector came off the switch -- it's a very poorly designed connection and probably saved GM 5 cents per unit instead of a nice secure weatherpack. May need to pull the rear half of the console out to check.

I have a locking cap . Haven’t checked the fuse it did nothing no click nothing . Thanks off to start troubleshooting .

Went fill up and the gas door release bottom doesn’t work any ideas ? Any tricks for opening from emergencies when it wot open.
Can you hear a clicking sound under the gas door? If you can try pushing on the gas door as you push on the switch. Once in while I have to do that on my 1999.

nothing no tick still haven’t looked at it . I’m going to start from the fuse and go from there
