I have a 1998 convertible the windows no longer go down half inch when you pull the door handle to open the door and when you turn the ignition. That feature from my understanding helps the window locks snuggly underneath the convertible top, any advice
Correct, they would automatically go down about 1/2 in or so lowering down upon entrance of my vehicle, once I engaged the key the windows would go up to fit under the Convertible top, I was looking at replacing my convertible top and the installer identified that the windows no longer move down to that level, he recommended get that feature fixed before installing a new $1,500 Convertible top

For the record, I have NEVER heard of any C5 having this feature. I believe the C6 does, but not the C5. At least, I've never met anyone who had this feature. I've owned my 2000 vert for 18 years, and it never did this. My car has every available option except the Mag wheels, and engine block heater. You must have a very unusual car.......
My 2000 windows do not index and i wish they would. My 2014 C7 did. If I recall it is to reduce the pressure build up in the car when closing the door since the windows do not have a metal frame around them.
My 99 does NOT do that. I intentionally leave the driver window down about 1/4 inch so it will clear the top rear of the top.
Now...my wife’s 2006 VW Beetle Vert does index the windows. Pretty nice little feature.
C5's don't do that. You may have had an aftermarket alarm or window valet that allowed it. If your windows are hitting the roof there is a simple adjustment to fix that on the roof itself
Ok, thanks I just wanted to make sure before I get a new top put on, the installer mentioned that my windows should go down so they don’t mess up the corners of top. I’m still looking into first before I purchase the top. I keep getting different responses regarding the C5 windows.

Adjust the window or top?
Point me to the information please?
thats it. The main thing that is kinda confusing about that writeup is the 13mm nut is the one you adjust... not the one the arrow is pointing to! You need a 13mm socket with an extension, the nut is vertical if you open up the hinged flap on each side. That adjustment is really the main one that makes a difference. It takes maybe 20-30 minutes if you take your time... with most time spent putting the top up and down along with the windows
