Default Another door lock question - troubleshooting help?

New user with a new to me 01 convertible. Lovely low mileage car with only a few issues to sort.

Right now trying to figure out if its the actuator or relay causing my driver door to not lock with either fob or door button. Door unlocks with either fob or button just fine. Passenger door works fine. No DIC codes. When I press the lock button (fob or door) I hear mechanical "whirring" like clicking from inside the driver door which makes me think its trying to lock. I can manually lock the door with key or by pushing the lever inside, so lock mechanism works.

The whirring noise makes me think the relay is pushing signal to the actuator which is not "actuating" as it should. Yes? No?

Similar but different - maybe related...when I open the drivers door the retained power (lights, radio) do not shut off. They do shut off when I open the passenger door, which is what should happen. So signal is not getting sent to some controller somewhere that the door has been opened. I think. Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot it? Maybe the wires or connector on the door?

Thanks!

Only way to find out what's going on is to remove the door panel, and take a look at the door latch mechanism.
