c5 coolant bypass. I read you can bypass the throttle body coolant flow with 5/16th pipe union most places sell. What size are the hoses stock and can you just get one longer hose say 2ft+ and run it directly to the one end bypassing both throttle body coolant ports instead of using a metal joint union? please someone respond. also what size plugs what i need or caps to keep the throttle body coolant ports clean

I used 1/4" hose, but there are several opinions on that. My radiator is a DeWitts so I had no concern about breaking the radiator plastic hose nozzle.

on my 98 z28 when i bypassed it i just bought longer hose in 2009 just ill have too see tomorrow in day light. what size are the ports guess ill figure out once i take hose off to plug the coolant tb ports keep from getting dirt in there.
Any idea what stock size hose is 5/16" or 1/4" and what size are the aftermarket barb fittings they sell like the one you listed'? Autozone has a dorman pair of barb fittings that would work in stock just dont think size was listed just the part number and picture parts box.

From what I've read on this forum, and others, this isn't the 'home run' it was on earlier LT and TPI engines. I've never done it, so I have no personal knowledge of the gains, if any. You may want to research this mod before jumping on the bandwagon. Just sayin', and trying to help......

If I were going to do it, it wouldn't be for any gains in power. I'd do it so that I can get the intake and throttle body off as a single unit without having to drain the coolant.
Its alot easier to have the one hose from the metal pipe on top of intake go straight to the radiator. I did it on my 98 z28 in 2009 really easy. And buy plugs for the tb coolant passages to keep dirt out tho i think i had left them open may have plugged them same ls1 engine. These are a little different drive by wire and no egr the intake doesnt have the top port. The throttle body if it were to go bad isnt to expensive i seen. ARe the 99 ls1 corvette cams bigger then say a 98 z28 camaro? just curious why these are rated 345 hp and the z28 320hp
