Default HVAC vacuum source

Does someone know where the blue vacuum line gets it vacuum from for the vacuum canister located below the left side Blend Door Actuator ? It appears I do not have enough vacuum to that diaphragm to open the blend door ?

The vacuum source for the HVAC is a port behind the intake manifold, very close quarters between the intake and firewall, it is a small hard plastic line.

The vacuum is sourced from rear of the intake manifoil (first photo) through black plastic tube (second photo)
The black tube ends up in the reservoir tank (third photo) and get distributed to HVAC vacuumanifoil inside the car (fourth photo)

so I have read that this line runs with a wiring harness under the battery and has a possibility of breaking or leaking due to the battery acid leaking onto that harness ?

Correct .

This black line is now twenty years old plastic tubes fragile due to heat exposure and age and can get broken easily .
You can access the reservoir and connected lines rear of the PCM and TAC module behind passenger front inner fender to verify if these lines have vacuum when engine runs in idle.
If you don't have vacuum in the reservoir your HVAC will not receive vaccum to operate door actuators. If no vacuum in the reservoir the tube from rear of intake can be broken

I was able to get to the line running into the inside of the car should there be a certain number of vacuum going into the car ??

Very good pictures. I finally located my vacuum lines under the battery tray. Can someone tell me where the line goes through the firewall into the cabin? Thanks

The vacuum line for the HVAC control valves comes from that reservoir in the fender well. It has its own little manifold/vacuum line tree. The line for the HVAC runs in to the car via the MAIN HARNISS that goes thru the fire wall just below the battery. It has a rubber seal that you can easily slip a fish tape under and feed in another good solid nylon vacuum line. You can buy it in bulk from several different places on line.

If it were ME, I would purchase enough new nylon line to re-plum the entire engine compartment as the old stuff is as brittle as uncooled pasta. As previously stated, the MAIN SOURCE of vacuum for the entire vehicle is the little fitting on the back of the intake manifold and YES, Its a royal pain in the *** to access. Just pull the intake manifold and when you replace it, make it long enough so it is much easier to work with and doesn't pop off when the engine moves!
