HUD Isssue
I have a 2000 C5 and my heads up display seems to take twenty minutes of driving time before it lights up and then functions normally. Any idea as to why this is happening?

My 01's HUD in 2013 or so would fade as ambient temperatures rose. Early in the morning it was great but after sitting or driving in hot afternoon sun, the display faded to almost invisible status. The same thing happened to the HVAC display until I re soldered the circuit board component connections. The solder would separate after getting hot. I suspect that some of the HUD circuit board connections had suffered the same solder-cracking failure but never verified that.
Just a year ago while renting a BMW i8 for a day, I noticed the same thing after driving much of the day in hot, sunny weather. The HUD display would fade to almost nothing. Once the car cooled down, it was back. That was a 2015 model.
