Constant popping when engine braking
Got a C5 some months ago. Enjoying it a lot, its 70k miles, pretty pristine inside and out, super happy with the car.
The only thing I'm not sure if its normal or not, but seems wrong for me, is that, anytime I left off the throttle and I'm going downhill in gear (so effectively engine breaking) the car pops constantly, like there is still fuel being delivered, so it seems fuel is never cut off.
My experience with other cars (and even with the C4) is that, when on full vacuum (engine breaking) cars usually cut off fuel. Except a BMW that for like a second or two kept delivering some fuel to do the typical BMW duchy artificial exhaust pop. But this seems to be different. I have no engine codes, and i did pull the rail with the injectors still attached to check for leaks, by cycling the key between on and off to start the pump.
Is this normal? Or there was some weird tune done to the car, or anyone has any idea?
Its enjoyable for a second or two, then its kind of duchy, as I live in a hilly place, so its constant hahaha.
Other than that, the car is ridiculous, I love it, puts a smile on my face every day I drive it. Going for some mountain passes with it was a ridiculously beautiful and fun experience.
