Of course. CD sales (and vinyl record sales!!) have increased the past two years (Covid effect?), after declining for many years. BAM (Books-a-Million) even has started selling vinyl records, and more and more well-known bands are specifying in their contracts that their new "albums" must be released on vinyl in addition to CD and "streaming". Regardless, I tell music streamers that if you don't own the CD, you are merely renting or leasing the music. I despise most forms of renting/leasing with a passion, be it apartments (versus owning a house), or leasing (versus actually purchasing and owning a car), and music is no different, in my humble opinion.
Howdy fellas,
I don't listen to music in my Vette (I'm an audiophile and I can barely here a note inside the car).
My question is- can I simply remove the changer and disconnect it? Or, will this present some electrical errors, issues, problems?
I'm new to the Corvette world. Just bought a C5.
Thanks for your help.

Just unplug it and you'll have to unscrew it from the brackets under the floor lid. That's it, you're finished... GOOD LUCK...
I have 1200 CD’s and sound fine in my 00 vert. I can stream off my phone with a fm transmitter plugged into a 12 volt source. I do both. What else to do will all those CD’s except listen. I have the single player in the dash and a 12 changer in the trunk, all stock.
EMDExpress,
Not seeing how that answers my question- will removing the CD Disc Changer from my 2002 C5 create problems since I will disconnect the electronic module? If so, I will leave it alone. If there is no problems created, then I'd like to remove the changer because I need the extra space.
As to listening to CDs, I have at least 2k and I enjoy listening to them in my home system.
I don't listen to them when I drive the Vette. I enjoy concentrating on driving an awesome machine as well as hearing it's power.
Thanks for your helpful information.
Enjoy the ride!
I recently took mine out from the trunk and sent it out for repair. In the meantime I drove the Vette and listened to the radio... Uggh. You'll be fine my friend.
Agree, Markmbaha1, I will also keep mine. Regrettably, I gave all my Vinyl away after my turntable sent south. The one obsolete music play tech I wish I kept was the 8 track car player. I sold it many years ago with all my tapes. That was the device to have in the car (maybe equal to the 45 player) before CD's.

I was young, but had an 8 track, and installed it. Still have a few around somewhere. I just can't afford to pay Dr. Don $350 ,right now. Plus change the mounting. This is the first time I've heard of this mounting issue. Odd they would make a gazillion of those designed to be mounted and played vertically, but now we're discovering they have a built in flaw. Seems odd.
Well those of you that want to keep the player and get it fixed if broken, have a decision to make. Pioneer repair facilities have no interest in repairing these artifacts and in most cases can't get parts. I had mine repaired and mounted it horizontally as Dr. Don directed. There's little alternative here and besides, if you want everything to be original, no one sees the player under the trunk floor anyway. Mine has operated flawlessly since being repaired. OTOH I realize the repair isn't inexpensive including shipping it out. All depends how important it is to you...

Mine is sitting on the table. No problems or ill effects
I tried all troubleshooting until I had the discs drawer stuck in the unit.
So, I opened the unit and found a lose part. See the picture. I can't find where it fits... Thinking seriously to give it up.
Have you considered the repair guy listed throughout these post? I went ahead and agipped mine off. This guy fixes to work with original mount and it worked great. It's not the one who has you change the mount.
My friend's 12 disc CD changer isn't working, he said it had a cd hung up. He doesn't want to deal with it so do you guys know of a company that repairs them. From my research not many guys work on them and they aren't very reliable and pricey. Any suggestions, thanks!
Just had my 12 disc changer repaired by United Radio located at 5705Enterprise Parkway in East Syracuse, NY. The cost was only $275.00 to repair the jam and $100.00 to repair the audio output, plus they paid the return UPS shipping cost. Contact Thuy Nguyen at United Radio, his phone number is 800-448-0944 ext. 3275 or email tnguyen@unitedradio.com The turnaround was very quick, I think it was only in their shop two days.
