My C5 seatbelts don't seem to retract that last little bit and as a result flop about, possibly sitting in the door jamb and prevents the door from closing completely, including a few cringeworthy moments of closing the door kind of hard on the seatbelt.
On previous cars, a little cleaning of the belt itself helped, but hasn't helped here. Is the retracting mechanism just too old and only a replacement will have it firming up as it once was?
My seatbelt works fine for the most part, though. It pulls out, if I pull it out all the way then it does that annoying ratchet where it only tightens from there. Sometimes after getting into the car, I'll need to feed the belt back in a little bit before it can be pulled out. So pushing in still works whereas your guide is to fix it once that doesn't work.
Not sure what the eye roll is for, did your guide include something about maybe reindexing the belt or have any insight as to why it stops retracting at like 90%
Was going to say every radio station and tv show commercial has the answer to your problem, then realized it was about something else. Not sure how you'd get a retractor to swallow a pill lol.
If you are having seat belt wear issues, I would recommend sending them to to Safety Restore in MA. They clean and lube the retractors and they replace the worn seat belt webbing. Plus you can choose from a variety of webbing colors. They are very good and very fast. Mine returned to me in Colorado within a week. Yellow Vette on You Tube has a good R&R video on the the removal and replacement. BTW, if you subscribe they send you a discount coupon for your first order.
